Megyn Kelly Admits Fox News Uses 'Amnesty' To Fire Up Haters

After months of pounding home the word "amnesty" to Fox News viewers, Kelly does a rapid about-face.

Did Megyn slip or did Roger let her out of the Intellectual Dishonesty cage long enough to say something useful?

Media Matters:

On the November 19 edition of The Kelly File, Kelly acknowledged that the president is not actually pursuing "amnesty," because "amnesty is citizenship and that's not what [Obama] is talking about." Kelly also explained how conservatives purposely misuse the word "amnesty" for political gain: "That's a hot-button term that the right uses to sort of get people upset."

Of course, the only amnesty that's been granted that can fall into Fox viewers' recent memory is the one Saint Ronnie secured for millions back in 1986. Much of the reason we're still dealing with this issue today is because he pandered to the nativists and bigots that still roar throughout the Republican haters' brigade. Consequently, it was a very limited amnesty, given to a small subset of immigrants and only for a limited time, which is why he had to sign an executive order later expanding it.

Personally, I'd like to see amnesty granted to the parents of DREAM act kids, but that would take an act of Congress.
