Oh, you know it's sad when Sean Hannity can't even keep Sarah Palin in line. She just wandered off the reservation and into heavy traffic during this interview.
Clearly she had been coached by someone to look her best. Sit beside the fire, Ms. Palin, with your perfectly coiffed hair and impeccable makeup while Uncle Sean rehabilitates you.
But alas, it wasn't meant to be.
The beginning of the interview was a little rough, mostly because Sarah was having difficulty staying on script and sounding natural. As she's wont to do, she tossed the script and went with her gut, including a rant about Fox News, the media and Bill O'Reilly.
It begins right around 3:40 or so, when Hannity gently asks her if the teleprompter broke during her speech. After declaring that she received a standing ovation, so what's the big deal anyway, she went off on a bizarre rant about media. I've transcribed it as best as I can, but do not take credit for trying to punctuate the stream of consciousness.
PALIN: Knowing what the media is going to do throughout 2016, and my prediction -- Hillary will be running and she will be the knighted candidate on the left and with the media -- knowing what the media's going to do, it's going to take more than a village to beat Hillary.
There needs to be unity, understanding that conservatives have that strike against us, you know right off the bat, that media.
Even there, on Fox! Kind of a quasi or assumed conservative outlet and we have all day listening to the tease of Bill O'Reilly. He's talking about the guests on his show tonight or the commentary on his show. And that would be "oh, all these GOP contenders thinking about running for president like Donald Trump, Sarah Palin..."
And he names them off, he says, "Oh, what a reality show that would be -- yuk yuk".
Well, the left doesn't do that, ok? They take this serious because this is WAR. And hopefully the media, even the quasi-right side of the media won't be looking at this as some kind of reality show, a joke, because maybe they have theirs so they're taken care of there fine.
Now the people of America deserve the best and competition through a GOP primary, whether a Bill O'Reilly or somebody else assumes this is a reality show or not, they deserve that competition to surface the competitor who can take on Hillary or whomever it may be and win for this country.
Of course, the part Palin didn't include there (she did mention it in the beginning) was the part where she mentions that she was at the Freedom Summit to promote her reality show on Sportsman Channel.
The remainder of the clip is just sickening crap from Hannity about how concerned he is for the middle class, because Hannity has suddenly found his populism hiding under his seat. Palin cooperates for the most part, naming every corporate boon she can as her plan to save the middle class.
Don't try to figure it out. It's beyond even Orwell. But it was fun to watch her try to slam BillO for calling that group of lunatics a reality show when she was all about pimping her own reality show.
