Fox's Bill O'Reilly's already got the blood of Dr. George Tiller on his hands, and he's doing his best to make sure it happens again.
September 24, 2015

As Dave Neiwert discussed here back in 2009, Bill O'Reilly has already got the blood of abortion provider Dr. George Tiller on his "well-stained hands," railing on night after night calling the doctor a murderer and spreading lies and unfounded accusations, until someone finally took matters into their own hands and shot him.

O'Reilly never owned up to just how dangerous his rhetoric was back then, and he continues to do it today, and this Wednesday's Talking Points Memo is just the latest example.

Bill-O used Pope Francis' visit to the United States as an excuse to rail on about his favorite laundry list of grievances, from pretending that Obamacare somehow harms the poor, to former General Petraeus and his testimony before Congress this week, and pretending that President Obama is the one responsible for destabilizing the Middle East.

The dangerous part however was his attempt to paint Democrats as a bunch of baby killing monsters because they refused to go along with another attempt by Republicans to defund Planned Parenthood.

O'REILLY: Now onto President Obama's remarks today.

First he addressed the Pope directly.

OBAMA: “You remind us that in the eyes of God our measure as individuals, and as societies, is not determined by wealth or power or station or celebrity, but by how well we hew to scripture's call to lift up the poor and the marginalized, to stand up for justice and against inequality, and to ensure that every human being is able to live in dignity because we are all made in the image of God.”

The key words there are “every human being is able to live in dignity because we are all made in the image of God.”

So Mr. President, are aborted fetuses able to live in dignity?

They are not able to live at all, are they?

The Pope may not know this, but last Friday 177 Democrats voted against a House bill that would require doctors to keep babies born alive during an abortion process from dying.

One-hundred-seventy-seven American elected officials voted for infanticide.

We have posted their names on BillOReilly.com.

That is barbaric and President Obama said nothing about it. Nothing.

If someone goes after one of those members of Congress after watching O'Reilly's rant tonight, anyone think he'll take responsibility if it gets one of them killed? Yeah, me neither.

Here's more from Joan McCarter on that vote: House Republicans vote to defund Planned Parenthood, take health care away from women:

The House of Representatives voted 241-187, on party lines, on Friday to block Planned Parenthood's funding for one year, and to add redundant criminal penalties on abortion doctors under the "born-alive" law. Democrats called "bullshit" on both bills, which they are, but of course didn't prevail.

"The Republicans just want to shut the government down if we don't fund Planned Parenthood. That's what they're all about," said Rep. Frank Pallone, the top Democrat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. […]

"No wrongdoing was shown. There's no criminal charges, there's no charges at all, pending against Planned Parenthood," Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Col.) said.

Minutes later, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Calif.[sic—IL]), accused a Republican colleague of making "a complete falsehood" on the floor.

"Planned Parenthood does not sell any body parts for profit. That is a fact," she said. […]

Democrats said the proposed changes to the born-alive protection bill are overly broad, and intended to intimidate abortion providers out of practice.

"It is already illegal to fail to provide care to an infant born alive," Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif) said. "What this bill does is to vilify abortion providers."

Truth, unfortunately, has little currency among Republicans. Neither does the report from the Congressional Budget Office that this defunding will take away healthcare from hundreds of thousands of women. That's a feature, not a bug, in their war on women.

Truth has little currency among dangerous demagogues like Bill O'Reilly as well.
