DonkeyHotey would have a field day with Chris Christie's appearance on Hannity's show Tuesday evening.
Christie, speaking of his bullying acumen with regard to Vladimir Putin, said, "Put me in the ring against Vladimir Putin, we’ll do just fine." That line alone could make an image for the ages.
As to the substance of Christie's claim, it might be just fine as long as someone responsible has the nuclear codes when that happens.
Christie, never at a loss for words or bluster, had much more to say.
On the government shutdown: It'll all go just great as long as Republican leaders "just know how to play this." I take it he's endorsing the strategy of forcing a shutdown by sending a budget to Obama that he will veto, therefore blaming the President for their perfidy. Christie wants everyone who might be affected by the shutdown to rest assured that with a guy like Christie with "all his vetoes in New Jersey", it'll all be just fine if they take his sage advice.
On Iran, Christie says "our policy" is for regime change in Iran. Not our policy, but the GOP's policy perhaps. Hannity helpfully says that there's just nothing left to do but "take out all the sites." What an utterly bloodthirsty thing to say.
The whole purpose of this appearance was to beef up Christie's poll numbers with the super-conservative types who watch Hannity. But if they didn't like the lingering image of Christie wrapping President Obama in a bear hug, will they really respond to the image of Christie hugging it out with Vladimir Putin?
