Colbert: Ryan's 'First Time' Endorsing Trump Is 'Special'

"You Want the first time you endorse Donald Trump to be....special."

On last night's Late Show, Stephen Colbert lampooned those Republicans who are trying to have it 'both ways' with Donald Trump. He singled out New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte, an at-risk Republican for this fall's election. Ayotte is one of those parsing the word "endorse" when it comes to Trump.

Yes! Support but not endorse! She's holding multiple positions, at the same time! She's in some sort of political quantum state...It's like Schrodinger's Cat, except that she would rather endorse a dead cat, than Donald Trump.

But Colbert saves most of his fire for House Speaker Paul Ryan. Ryan doesn't need to rush into a Trump endorsement, Colbert says.

"Just because all the cool people like Ben Carson are doing it doesn’t mean you have to. You want the first time you endorse Donald Trump to be special."

Don't be like Chris Christie, counsels Stephen. who "…rushed into endorsing and now everywhere he goes is a Walk of Shame.”

The rest is classic Stephen and worth the click.
