No Bernie voter I have met online or face-to-face would say something this stupid. Especially not one old enough to live through the Bush years.
The New York Times interviewed people at a recent Bernie Sanders rally. Among them, a 48-year old man who watched The Apprentice and thinks Trump would be preferable to Clinton.
“A dark side of me wants to see what happens if Trump is in,” said Victor Vizcarra, who works in information technology in Los Angeles.
“There is going to be some kind of change, and even if it’s like a Nazi-type change. People are so drama-filled. They want to see stuff like that happen. It’s like reality TV. You don’t want to just see everybody be happy with each other. You want to see someone fighting somebody," he explained.
Vizcarra also added that he thought a Trump presidency "would be more exciting than a 'boring' Clinton administration.
Other Bernie voters at the rally were hoping the FBI would save them from facing a vote for Hillary Clinton. Because apparently, they actually believe all the right-wing lies spewed over the past 30 years and think a fascist would be better than a not-as-left-as-Bernie Democrat.
I'm not buying it. These interviews suggest to me that these folks aren't liberal, nor are they real Bernie supporters. The real Bernie supporters I know have all said they will support Clinton in the general, and vote Bernie in the primary.
That's how it's supposed to be, just as it would be of Clinton voters who would vote Bernie in the general if he had the nomination. But anyone delusional enough to imagine voting in a fascist to see the "excitement" of living under a "Nazi-type change" should immediately report to the Secretary of State and withdraw their voting rights voluntarily.
