Gov. Mike Pence was spinning like a top trying to defend the Trump campaign's many hypocritical and false claims about the FBI and the rigged election.
October 30, 2016

Gov. Mike Pence made the rounds on all the Sunday morning talk shows and after attacking the Clinton campaign, he tied himself into knots trying to defend Donald Trump and Kellyanne Conway's previous attacks on the FBI, claiming they were part of a rigged system.

Gov. Pence is very skilled at using the "passive aggressive attack" technique when criticizing those with whom he disagrees. Face the Nation host John Dickerson tries to hold him accountable for his campaign's own words and actions, but it's not an easy task.

Pence strongly alluded on all the talk shows that the FBI was coerced to clear Hillary Clinton by Loretta Lynch's Justice Department because of a tarmac meeting Bill Clinton had with the Attorney General.

That's nonsense, of course, and based on no facts at all.

Dickerson challenged Gov. Pence and his campaign over Trump's many past statements and asked, "Mr. Trump has said he will investigate Hillary Clinton if he is made president -- have his Justice Department investigate her. Would a part of that investigation be this meeting between the Attorney General and Bill Clinton as part of the investigation of Hillary Clinton?"

Dickerson continued, "If it’s troubling, it seems like it’s worthy of investigation."

Gov. Pence tried to switch the subject, but Dickerson said, "But I’m talking about the, the meeting between the Attorney General and Bill Clinton that you’ve mentioned twice, is that worthy of investigation, just quickly?"

Pence refused to answer this question so the CBS host moved on to another troubling aspect of the Trump campaign.

Kellyanne Conway attacked the Clinton camp for "suggesting Comey is a partisan interfering with the electorate {as} dangerous and unfair.”

Dickerson said, "But Donald Trump has been going after Comey and the Justice Department on this issue for the last four months. So was that also, as Kellyanne Conway said, dangerous and unfair?"

Gov. Pence said the decision by the FBI was troubling to millions of Americas.

Dickerson continued, "But he said it’s politically motivated, which she says is dangerous and unfair. So it sounds like she’s calling out the Clintons for doing exactly what Donald Trump--"

Pence twisted into another direction and replied, "Well, no. No, John -- John, you know, I mean, what we’re seeing now is the old playbook of the politics of personal destruction that the Clintons have rolled out throughout their career. And they’re targeting the director of the FBI and questioning the -- his personal integrity."

That's his opinion of what the Clinton campaign is doing, but Trump and his camp most definitely attacked James Comey's personal integrity since July and have never stopped.

Except of course to celebrate the news on Friday.

Dickerson continued, "Governor, these are Donald Trump’s words. “This is a disgusting example of just how badly career politicians have rigged the system.” That’s a – that’s a shot. That’s not – that’s – that’s taking a shot at the – at the FBI and Director Comey for that original decision."

Gov. Mike Pence responded by doing his usual passive aggressive attack on the personal integrity of Comey and the FBI.

Gov. Pence said, "Well, that original decision was really incomprehensible to millions of-- I mean, to arrive at a place where even in his testimony before the Congress --And then to conclude that she was simply extremely careless and there would be no recommend (sic) charges, that to me is the kind of double standard that the American people are weary of. But -- but I think people are very encouraged by the decision this week--"

The millions of Americans Pence constantly alludes to are avid Trump supporters and by describing the FBI's decision as "incomprehensible," Pence is saying the decision was rigged.

Dickerson then moved on to the rigged election meme Trump has been promoting for months and asked, "Let me ask you another question: 21 million people have voted. Has -- is there any real evidence that this election is being stolen, based on what you all and the Trump team has been watching as this voting’s gone underway?"

Pence immediately twisted into another directions and outright lied when he said, "Well, I don’t – I don’t think – I – I don’t think there’s been a suggestion about it being stolen as much as frankly--"

John replied, "Mr. Trump said if he lost Pennsylvania it would only be if it was ‘stolen.’ He used that word."

Pence pivoted to the media bias they claim is befalling them and said, "But we also know that voter fraud has happened in polling places and precincts around the country. And we’re just calling on every American to find a way to respectfully participate in their local election process to ensure that when we – when we achieve that victory on November the 8th, it’s also a victory for American democracy."

The only voter fraud so far has been perpetrated by Trump supporters.

We are glad to bring you another episode of Trump surrogates being twisted into pretzels, trying to defend Donald Trump.
