CNN's Jake Tapper hosted a segment on Thursday highlighting a report from The Atlantic citing multiple outside advisors to Trump telling him to take over the 2026 midterm elections by declaring martial law or by any other means.
Tapper normally wouldn't bother covering these types of stories unless they have something to do with Pres. Biden's health, but now he's not so sure, since former DNI advisor Tulsi Gabbard obtained electronic voting machines seized from Puerto Rico, while the FBI examined ballots from Fulton County, Georgia.
"What is the president planning?" Tapper asked at the end of the segment.
TAPPER: A new report from The Atlantic magazine details how a slew of outside advisors to President Trump are urging him to take control of federal elections this November.
A key player in the scheme, according to The Atlantic, is an attorney named Peter Tickton. He's a longtime friend of Trump. They went to military school together as teenagers.
Tickton told The Atlantic magazine that Trump could decide to declare martial law on or around election day. Tickton is also the attorney for convicted election denier Tina Peters out of Colorado. Her sentence was commuted by Colorado Governor Jared Polis.
Soon after her sentence was, her time in prison was commuted, she met with President Trump at the White House.
This is what Peter said about that meeting.
PETERS: There is a plan. Yesterday when I was with the president, he talked to, and I can't get into the plan. Understood, please don't. But we talked, you know; he basically said to his lead counsel to do what I was asking.
TAPPER: There is a plan, says Tina Peters.
And it's not just the figure circling the president saying this out loud.
President Trump himself has publicly called for greater federal control of elections.
Of course Tina Peters went to the White House. She tried her best after the 2021 Insurrection at the Capitol, but instead became a convicted felon. Sure, she has a plan.
If it weren't her, it would be some other nutcase being invited to the Oval Office to propose a treasonous action to steal the midterm elections.
Trump listens to these crackpots, and it's got Tapper worried.
