A week after Pete Davidson faced instant backlash after a tasteless joke about Dan Crenshaw, they sat together at the Weekend Update desk and shared a Veterans Day message of unity

A week ago Pete Davidson failed miserably when trying to make a joke about Texas GOP candidate (and current Congressman-elect) Dan Crenshaw. He mocked Crenshaw's appearance - he wears an eyepatch after an IED blew up in his face during his third combat tour in Iraq). The joke: Davidson said he looked like a “hitman in a porno movie.”

Backlash was swift. Conservatives throughout social media decried the disrespect of a veteran injured during combat duty, though it is notable that their outrage did not extend to similar jokes at the expense of other veterans, like Senator Tammy Duckworth or the late senator John McCain, when it originated from Donald Trump.

Still, it was in poor taste and Davidson and SNL were clearly in damage control mode on Saturday. Davidson came out to give a heartfelt apology, " ...If any good came of this, maybe it was that for one day the left and the right finally came together to agree on something — that I’m a dick.” Crenshaw then joined him at the Weekend Update desk. When a second apology was made, Crenshaw's phone started ringing, giving Davidson a little tweak by playing Davidson's former fiancee, Ariana Grande.

Great segment, started off funny and ending on the perfect Veterans Day message.

Must watch.
