New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spearheaded a fundraising effort for Texans battered by the storm last year, raising more than $4 million in just a few days. She also went to Texas to help fill boxes at the Houston Food Bank.
Gov. Greg Abbott, though, lacks the empathy gene, so he kidnapped migrants as a political stunt, dropping them off near Vice President Kamala Harris's home. Then he took to Twitter as if he was taking some sort of victory lap.
AOC called him out.
"I remember how folks stepped up to help Texans when you left them cold and hungry during the freeze," she tweeted. "We will welcome these families too. They have so much to offer."
"You do seem to be struggling at your job, though," she added. "Maybe you should consider if this is the right work for you."
What Republicans are trying to do is create a crisis so that they can campaign on it. It's shameful. It's disgusting, and it's inhumane. In this case, it may also be illegal. Silly, AOC, doesn't she know that cruelty is their point?
