How it went: On Election Day, far-right Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake attacked reporters covering her press gaggle, vowing to reform the media as is presently constructed.
"I'm going to be your worst freaking nightmare for eight years. We will reform the media as well," Lake said. "We're going to make you guys into journalists again."
Fox News then cut away from her gaggle to the studio and John Roberts was particularly perturbed with her comments.
"She also said it was her intention to reform the media," he said.
"I'm not quite sure what she was getting at there because the ripe history of a free press, the rich history of a free press in this country is something we have embraced for many, many hundreds of years," Roberts mused. "So I'm not quite sure how a politician goes about reforming the media?"
Kind of an amazing statement given Fox had no problem with years of Trump calling the media "the enemy of the people."
How it's going: now she's calling the state she wants to "serve" a "banana republic" because the vote count is not going her way.
Kari Lake is channeling her hero Trump, who has wanted to arrest reporters for covering him accurately. What Lake is signaling is that she would work hard towards criminalizing real journalism, media outlets and arresting journalists while rewarding right-wing propaganda.
