Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump wants potential RNC donors to "trust" her because she's Donald Trump's daughter-in-law. I shit you not. NBC News senior Capitol Hill correspondent Garrett Haake just came out and asked Lara what she would say to "Republicans who are not comfortable with the idea of sort of the Trump family takeover of the Republican Party."

The RNC slimmed down its staff, firing 60 employees because they were broke. In addition, there's a litmus test for new employees, asking them if the 2020 election was stolen. Thus, there is no Republican Party anymore—it's the Trump Party.

"I hope you won't be offended by the premise of this question, but the position of RNC co-chair is not one that traditionally gets this kind of attention," Haake said to Lara.

"A lot of it is because of who you are as Donald Trump's daughter-in-law. You have Donald Trump's last name," he continued. "What do you say to Republican voters? And there are millions of them, people who voted for Nikki Haley, Republicans who are not comfortable with the idea of sort of the Trump family takeover of the Republican Party."

Lara Trump tried to claim that she's had "so much experience" even though that's not true.

"If you look at the fact that I am one of very few people who can say that I have been part of now three presidential campaigns," Lara said, "the media exposure and experience that we in the Trump family have had over the past eight years rivals most people who make their career in politics, and I can guarantee you, none of us ever imagined we would find ourselves in this position."

"Can they trust the RNC" she continued. Can they donate to this entity? Trust me, I am the daughter-in-law of Donald Trump."

"I will ensure that every penny of every dollar is going to causes that Republican voters care about," she added. "We want to, of course, elect Donald Trump at the top of the ticket and then, of course, elect Republicans all the way down."

Oh, sure. Everyone is reassured now because she married into a family of crooks. I want to give her a nuggy. She married Eric Trump, hello? That should tell you everything you need to know.

It's my experience that anyone who starts off a sentence with "trust me" is usually not trustworthy. And backing that up with being related to Donald Trump means you're going to be played for suckers.
