Justice For Heehaw: Baby Donkey Shot By Georgia Police

Hannah Israel set up a GoFundMe for legal fees, as a lawsuit is expected. The cops were on her property without a warrant, searching for a missing person at night. It's been reported they first tried to tase the baby donkey before using lethal force. The unidentified officer (since identified online, as Cedartown, GA, is not a large area) has been placed on administrative leave.

My bottle baby donkey “HeeHaw” was killed in his own pasture on Saturday night by trespassing cops. He was a loved member of our family and did many petting zoos and made many people smile.

We will be using any donations left for the farm, care of the animals, a fund for making a HeeHaw foundation and none of it for our personal needs. This is not a pay day for us. Thank y'all so much for your support.

CEDARTOWN, Ga. — A Georgia officer is on leave after shooting a baby donkey in an incident where a family says officers told them they went to a property searching for a missing person and then encountered the donkey running at them, braying, leading them to believe they were in danger.

The donkey, named HeeHaw, was raised in the house and became a part of the Polk County family. He went to petting zoos and, his owners said, was friendly with strangers.

The shooting occurred after the officers told the family they first tried to tase and subdue HeeHaw.

The Cedartown Police Department confirmed an officer was placed on administrative leave as the shooting is investigated.

Officials have not released the officer’s name or additional details about what led to the shooting.

The people who loved HeeHaw want answers, as well as for the story of the little donkey to be told: That he was a bottle baby who grew into a beloved animal, brought joy to many people and was loved by his family.

Heehaw was used in petting zoos because he was so friendly and was especially fond of children.
