Republican Senate nominee and former disgraced Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was asked to defend his record of corruption by Fox News today and he did so by making the case that Trump was worse than him.
That's a new strategy.
Fox News host Bret Baier reported on James Talarico exposing Paxton's horrific record on the campaign trail.
Baier did a good job of not covering up Paxton's sordid record and instead put them up with full graphics on the screen for Fox News viewers.
BAIER: There was an indictment on security fraud charges in 2015. Charges drops after reaching a pretrial agreement. Federal fraud charges announced in 2016.Federal judge dismisses that case. In 2017, accused by staff members in 2020 of accepting bribes and abusing power. Impeached by the Republican Texas house over accusations of misuse of power. Acquitted by the Texas State Senate of the impeachment articles in order to pay four former employees $6.6 million.
In 2025 violating Texas whistleblower act. It's a long list here, but as you look at that and you talk to voters who may be concerned about this. Watching these commercials What do you say.
PAXTON: Well look, when you're fighting they come after you
Look at Donald Trump. He had many more indictments than I did, two impeachments.
Wow. That's what Paxton went with. Paxton was never fighting; he was using his position to help himself. In that respect he is very much like Demented Donald.
Paxton's campaign must've been told that he was going to be asked to defend his corruption and this is the path they chose to go down.
Independents and Latino voters in Texas will not find his excuses remotely credible and Trump's approval rating with those two groups have dropped like a rock.
