Trump and the Republicans used to say the Democrats wanted to ban red meat and outlaw cows. Now they're the ones telling us not to eat beef.

A couple of months ago, Bobby "Wormbrains" Kennedy, Jr. told people to eat liver and other organs because they were cheaper than beef.

Now, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins is channeling her inner Marie Antoinette, dismissing people's anger over beef prices by telling them to eat something else, like eggs, chicken, or pork. One of the problems with her unhelpful suggestion is that all those other foods are also going up in price because of Trump's illegal and unnecessary war with Iran and Trump's tariffs. And that's if the food isn't being recalled because of some contamination, bird flu, or some other problem stemming from Trump's cuts at the FDA.

The ironic part is that for years, it was the Republicans telling us that the Democrats wanted to outlaw cows and wanted us to stop eating red meat.

In 2020, Trump and the other Republicans were telling us that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal would lead to killing all of the cows and then killing us:

President Trump traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday for a rally in advance of the first Democratic primary, where he told the crowd that Democrats who support the Green New Deal want to kill their cows.

"The Green New Deal, which would crush our farms, destroy our wonderful cows. They want to kill our cows. You know why, right? You know why? Don't say it. They want to kill our cows. That means you're next," Trump said.

In 2024, Trump was at it again, except that this time, he was accusing Kamala Harris of wanting to outlaw red meat, leading to the demise of the cows and people:

I'll let the gentle reader decide if this is a long-term example of every accusation is a confession or if it's just an example of it being only OK if a Republican does it. What I will say is that it is another example of how incompetent Trump and his criminal syndicate are and how gullible his supporters are.

Brooke Rollins: If beef is too expensive, you can eat chicken, eggs, other great sources of protein.
