Midterm elections are rapidly closing in, and it seems Senate Republicans have been left shaking in their shiny shoes after former President Barack Obama threw his weight into the game.

Yesterday morning, the National Republican Senatorial Committee sent supporters a rather dramatic message, featuring a subject line that reads, "Obama plots Senate takeover." In the body of the email, the Senate GOP desperately urged readers to "brace yourself" and "read the emergency report."

"After an election forecaster called the House a 'DONE DEAL' for the Democrats… Obama now turns his sights to the United States Senate," the theatrical email reads.

While the whole thing certainly has an overly dramatic ring to it, the NRSC did put something in writing that the Republican Party rarely admits out loud, especially this close to a crucial election:

It was long believed there was no possible chance Democrats could flip FOUR SEATS in order to seize the President's Senate Majority. But alas, here we are in the final stretch of the election with Obama betting EVERYTHING on flipping the Senate.

The committee specifically cited a recent NBC News headline that read, "Obama boosts Senate Democrats with October fundraiser," as evidence to back up their warning about the former president. It further claimed that President Obama is looking to deliver "a knockout punch to President Trump" and warned that he was "meeting with his handpicked Democratic Speaker of the House" last month.

"Republicans are DOWN BY 8% in midterm polling," the email continued to shout. "Without your support, we will LOSE BIG!"

The NRSC email did not include any information indicating which poll it was referencing or which forecaster had called the House a "done deal."

The desperately frantic email just so happened to go out to supporters the very same day that Axios published even more leaked audio of scandal-plagued Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton, this time telling donors and lobbyists that Trump's war with Iran and skyrocketing gas prices were destroying his campaign.

If you stop and listen very closely, you can almost hear the Republicans crying from here.
