In case you didn't know, one of the founders of Facebook, Eduardo Saverin, is renouncing his U.S. citizenship and moving Singapore. Now if the year were 2004, Saverin would be immediately branded an America-hating terrorist, but alas, since one of the blacks a Democrat is in the White House, becoming un-American voluntarily is the New Patriotism.

Other than the fact that Saverin isn't the CEO of Facebook -- that would be Mark Zuckerberg -- here's the problem with Carpenter's tweet. Saverin and his attorney are claiming he's not leaving because of taxes.

Saverin’s spokesman, Tom Goodman, told Bloomberg “the calculations and assumptions are not only erroneous, they also further perpetuate the false impression that tax was the reason behind Eduardo’s decision.”

So either Saverin is lying, or Carpenter's wrong as usual.

Either way, capital gains taxes are at historic lows. So even if Saverin's a liar (which is also very admirable!), the fact that wingnuts are celebrating that he's choosing money over the Statue of Liberty, Baseball and Apple Pie tells you all you need to know about their fetid ideology.

Can you help us out?
