Mike's Blog Round Up
August 20, 2015

A new poll suggests that Trump is more "electable" than Jeb Bush and the rest of the Republican presidential field, insofar as he has better (but still losing) numbers against Hillary. I don't think it'll happen, but I realize that, like many others, I might be underestimating Trump's sustainable popularity among Republicans. He is, after all, the current personification of the GOP's id, saying out loud (and appealing directly to the party's base), what more prudent Republicans prefer to leave to dog whistling. In any event, bring it on. Let Republican self-destruction be as grotesquely Trumpian as possible.

Human Voices: Finding McJesus at "God's House."

Squatlo-Rant: Outsourcing Tennessee's parks for profit.

Seeing the Forest: Boosting worker-ownership of companies.

Ramona’s Voices: Deflecting a tawdry affair, Tea Party-style.

And because we just can't get enough of the nativist-jingoist insanity of the Republican Party, from Trump right on down:

Outside the Beltway: Endorsing the end of birthright citizenship.
