Mike's Blog Round Up
A message from MIke Finnigan:
I began the blog roundup shortly after John Amato started Crooks and Liars. It has been a real blessing to be a contributor to a site that evolved into an important progressive voice in American politics. The bloggers I got to know and the readers who took time to express their appreciation, or who sent tips, have enriched my life. Now my work and travel outside the U.S. has made it nearly impossible to be a reliable part of C&L so I wanted to say goodbye to all of you and tell you how much I will miss you and this wonderful place.
A message from Blue Gal:
When Mike says his music and travel are keeping him from the round up, he means it! He just finished a tour with Joe Cocker and there are other albums and concerts to come -- we're very proud of the best damn Hammond Organ player in the blogosphere!
Mike's Blog Round Up will continue, and will continue to be called MIKE'S Blog Round Up in honor of the amazing guy who started it all. Tune in tomorrow for another Mike's Blog Round Up.... And feel free (for today) to leave comments here to thank Mike for his many years of great service to this blog.

Thanks for posting the link to my blog previously. That one link resulted in more than 500 unique visitors. I, and many other bloggers, appreciated your help!

Thanks for all your trouble and effort.
for all your posts. Just be glad that in today's world, you don't have to lug a Hammond B3 around with you like my uncle did in the 70's!
"Let's talk dirty to the animals"
That was the only time I performed with a B-3 musician. But I can hear it in my head and my fingers twitch.
As a kid I was fascinated by my uncle's many organs and player pianos that he rebuilt as a hobby, and he always got mad at me for changing the stops. But what fun!
Thanks for doing this, It has become a morning mainstay and I have always been thrilled when something I sent in got posted.

Mike, I love Mike's Round-up and your choices were great. You even chose my blog a couple of times and my hits increased dramatically. Big thanks for all you've done, and Happy Trails to you. Have fun.

I know many musicians are political, but I was pleased that you took it to a different level. I always looked for your material on C&L and have missed it. Good luck with the music, which is your first love and primary vocation. Do post material as you can, however.
Best wishes on all your exciting projects and thanks so much for your great work here at C&L. It's been an invaluable resource and is greatly appreciated.
Hopefully humanity will one day learn to be humane.
You opened up blogs to me I might not otherwise have known and you've done the round up with consistency and flair. How did I miss you were a world-class Hammond organ player?! Keep on keeping on!
Since you started including me in 2006, it's been a huge shot in the arm to my blogging.
My profound appreciation for the attention you've brought to the 'small' blogs, of which I am one.
Soon to be smaller, I guess.
You have been, and will continue to be, an integral part of the C&L Community. I can't tell you how much more I've learned from the great C&L site by "religiously" reading your roundup every day. Thank you so much for starting this continuing feature of C&L.
Packing that much info into a mini-post is an artform of its own. I think I got 2,000 hits once from a link you posted to my blog.
Am happy your career is going great. Cocker's gain. Our loss!
I've found some great stuff by reading your links, and while I'm not sure how many times you linked to me over the years, I could find out just by looking at my stats (about 90% of my four-digit readership days were thanks to your links, such is the life of a D-list blogger).
I'd be glad to buy you a drink next time you gig in the Twin Cities (stick an @gmail.com after my name to contact me).
You guys do great work sending some love to all the very deserving independent bloggers.
Wishing you all the best.

Mike, you were the first high-profile person to ever link to my blog, www.Conservative-Truths.com. You would link to me 2-3 times a year and each time the traffic in one day would be the equivalent of the traffic for the year.
When Conservative-Truths relaunches in January 2012 I hope that you will continue to read it even though you will no longer be running the Blog Round Up.
Have a great time touring!

Mike,
Thanks for the heart and the head that goes along with it. I am glad it's not the other way around because your playing is the one thing better than your pointers. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to give you some Splenda for your coffee in a field in France again sometime soon. See you out on the road,
Aron
for your fine work. The blog round up has been, and I hope will remain, the source of much interesting material.

...When he was in the Jerry Hahn Brotherhood and I was briefly the roadie. He played in the house band in the sleazy dive where I worked as the sound guy. I watched him go through the Crazed Hipsters phase and then Dave Mason. An awesome talent musically, you could have knocked me over with a Steinway when I saw 40 years or so on that he was so politically aware.
Mr. Finnigan, you're a great musician and a great social conscience. Thanks for featuring myself and so many more worthy others over the years, and blessings upon your journeys.
;>)
Mike, thanks for linking so many times to my Agitprop and Stinque nonsense ... and be careful out there.
I first became aware of you Mike when you played Hammond/keys at the Guthrie in Minneapolis, MN with David Crosby as he toured right after his recovery, and I never forgot it, never will. To have found your contributions here on Crooks and Liars years later was an enormous boost during the years my youngest son spent on two deployments to the Anbar province of Iraq. To have found that the level of your social conscience matched the brilliant level of the musical art that your create, gave me hope that there were people of great talent and integrity working with us to try to stop this killing and stop this war. Thanks for all of the efforts. I'll keep tabs on the voice of integrity, you keep speaking the truth. See ya down the road Mike, be well.
Best wishes, Mike!
Like a lot of other bloggers up-page, I'm incredibly thankful for the attention you sent our way at Newshoggers (and for the opportunity to front-page at C&L for a few months that you set up). You are the very best of the A-Listers and Blogtopia will be far poorer without you.
Warmest regards, Steve
I enjoyed meeting up with you every morning.
Mike -
I swear that the highlight of my blogging life was having the chance to guest post for you. Thank you "for all you do."
Regards,
Tengrain
I've always love the round up. I'm glad you will always, in name, be a part of it.
Best wishes in everything you do! You'll be missed but will always be "around."

what god wants, god gets! god help us all.
Thanks for everything, Mike--especially linking to Bic's Place when it was a new blog with about 3 hits a day! Best of luck with all your future endeavors.
...this morning when I read the comments from youse guys. So nice of you to take a moment to blow all that sunshine up my skirt. Chances are, I'll appear occasionally to sub when scheduling permits. A note to Mr. Green Jeans: I was lugging my Hammond B3 around before your uncle. In the 60's...the 70's, the 80's, the 90's and for the past 46 years. I accept no substitutes and never will!
Noooooooo!
On the one hand, it means things are going really well for you as a musician, and if you're having a blast, it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
But...
Jeez, man, Blogroll Amnesty Day, every day, for how many years? Do you have any idea of how much good karma you have created, how many small blogs you have promoted, how much MBR has made the blogosphere a better place? Some other big blogs link smaller blogs, but not with this regularity, and not with the variety and richness of picks. MBR is one of the things that makes C&L special. I'm glad it will continue, and continue as Mike's Blog Roundup. (Hell, your work was instrumental with prompting Amato to start the site in the first place.)
The great musicians - and bloggers - make it look easy. So you damn well better do some guest gigs and come back to sit in with the C&L band...
You'll be missed.
Vaya Con Dios. I've drunk many a cup of coffee waking up with your good work over the years. You epitomize what it means to be a crook and liar.
Thanks Mike for linking to so many interesting reports over the years (and for making my non-C&L friends think I'm smart!). Best wishes for continued musical success.
Awesome for Mike, bummer for me...
Mike has linked to my blog a few times and each time, it drove the stats sky-high. Each time, I picked up a few more returning readers.
He has helped the small bloggers a lot with his links.
I wish him all the best.

For all the years of great blog round ups, and for all the years of great music. Enjoy the gigs!
Keep on riffin' on your Hammond.
