Mike's Blog Round Up

Shakesville: Justice Antonin Scalia marks the anniversary of Roe v. Wade by declaring no burden is an undue burden on women’s abortion rights.

The Cable: Even former Bush CIA director and current Romney adviser Michael Hayden thinks attacking Iran is a bad idea.

Mad Kane: Mitt Romney’s South Carolina blues.

The Lester and Charlie Review: Mitt Romney’s greenness envy.

Speaking of which, your quote of the day: “I don't ever expect to see any of that anyways. I don't think any of us kids are counting on that money. If my dad decides to use the money he's made, then we support him." (Matt Romney, January 2008, on the $45 million his father Mitt ultimately burned through in his failed campaign four years ago.)

am starting to understand his appeal to the Republicans.

What Gingrich is doing is emulating what George W Bush turned out to be. That would be an arrogant, petulent, in-your-face, shoot-before-diplomacy, cavalier, think-with-your-gut, authoritarian that would have every intention of taking advantage of the detention laws that Obama made available to him but claimed he would never use himself.

I can't think of more important laws to pass than those you never intend to use.

The Republican base wants to know their next Republican president will be equally willing to imperialize the world in order for them to profiteer off of it. They need to know that the next president will exploit the tyrannical detention laws signed by Obama in order to carry out their political agenda and to quash any opposition.

They don't want a waffling Romney. They want a thick-headed, authoritarian, corporatist with an itchy trigger finger. They have all of this in Gingrich, and this is much more important to them than family values.

he will sing his part of dialogue during the general debates.... and challenge Gingrich to do the same.

'What the hell does that mean? At a guess the OED has a couple of pages of definitions of the word "burden."

Scaley is giving a whole new definition to the term Slick Will He?
