Shep Smith led off his show on Thursday by discussing John Brennan's press conference on the Senate torture report with Ed Henry. He then opened the next segment with the WSJ's John Bussey, by saying how "sad and horrifying" it is that we're still debating if it's perfectly fine to torture prisoners.
Smith: ...That all these years later and we're sitting around and debating whether terror, whether we were torturing, that was OK, It's sad and horrifying.
Bussey: Ed Henry just kind of summed it up. The big issue is going to be, what Brennan walked this very careful line on, which is, the overall program was productive. these detainees did give us information that was valuable.
Smith: In most cases from reading the paperwork, we got the information before we tortured these people.
Smith kept hammering home the point that torture is horrible.
Smith: Is there going to come a time where we can just look and go "we did bad things, we shouldn't have done those bad things, we better make sure these bad things don't happen again...
Good for Shep, who at times is a voice of reason over at Fox News.
