It's Friday. As I type this I still have a few hours left for my weekend to officially start. I went home for lunch though and cued this up on the record player. It's kept me groovin' ever since.

Born in Philly and raised in Pittsburgh, "Spanky" got her result of the spankings she received from her father. By the age of 17 she was doing club gigs with Stanley Turrentine. Her first single, "The Last Day of Summer", was released in 1969. Her cover on the Cream song "Sunshine Of Your Love" was released later that year on her second album Doin' It and always gets a party started around my house.

What are you listening to tonight?
