GOP House Majority Whip Scalise: 'We're Not A Socialist Nation'

Don't tell that to all of those retirees who depend on Social Security Steve.
Views:

While discussing all of their grand plans to get their agenda enacted if this country is unfortunate enough to find ourselves with, heaven forbid, a President Trump Republican House Majority Whip Steve Scalise said this to Maria Bartiromo on this weekend's Sunday Morning Futures:

SCALISE: Donald Trump made it clear he wants to lower tax rates. We want to lower tax rates. Let's bring those jobs back to America. There's no reason that major manufacturers in America should be getting bought up and moved out of the United States.

Those are really good jobs we're losing. We want to bring them back. Clearly President Obama stood on the way and Hillary Clinton's going to keep it going with this Socialist talk that she and Bernie Sanders are fighting over – who's the furthest left Socialist.

BARTIROMO: Yeah.

SCALISE: We're not a Socialist nation. Let's get our economy moving again.

Apparently in GOP world, all those programs they'd like to destroy, like Social Security, SNAP, Medicare, Medicaid, the Veterans Administration and so forth don't count as really being American.

Republicans love to demonize Socialism, but as Bill Maher reminded them this Friday evening during his New Rules segment, "when it comes to Socialism, you're soaking in it."
