During a rally in North Carolina today, Gov. Mike Pence was asked by a kid in attendance if his role was to "soften up" Donald Trump's harsh rhetoric and polices.

In other words, he asked if Pence's role in a Trump administration would be as the Chief Apologist for Donald Trump.

The boy said, "I've been noticing that you've kind of been softening up on Mr. Trump's policies and words. Is this gonna be your role in the administration?"

He's been noticing that Gov. Pence has been trying to clean up Trump's recent meltdowns so they don't appear as racist, insensitive and xenophobic as they have been.

Gov. Pence smiled and said, "Number one, this boy's got a future. Nicely done. let me tell you what. I couldn't be more proud to stand with Donald Trump and we are shoulder to shoulder in this campaign."

He continued, "Sometimes things don't always come out like you mean, right?"

When Donald Trump is bashing someone he perceives as a foe, his words mean exactly what he says they mean.

I'm waiting for Trump to attack the kid for "viciously smearing me" on the next O'Reilly Factor!
