It was 35 years ago today that Garlands, the debut album from the Cocteau Twins, was released.

It would take them a few more records for them to hit the sound that was 100% theirs, but the foundation, assembled from the brooding and ethereal moments of Siouxie & the Banshees, Joy Division and the Cure sonaces, was cast here.
