AOC Pushes Back Hard On GOP's Fake 'Handcuffs Scandal'

On Tuesday, 17 House Democrats were arrested for protesting outside the Supreme Court over their disastrous ruling to overturn of Roe V Wade.

There were 35 arrests made by the Capitol police at the protest.

Rep. Omar tweeted, "Today I was arrested while participating in a civil disobedience action with my fellow Members of Congress outside the Supreme Court. I will continue to do everything in my power to raise the alarm about the assault on our reproductive rights!"

But if you tuned into Fox News, right wing Twitter, or any other conservative outlet, the focus was not about the horrendous decision by the Supreme Court that takes a away the right for women to control their own bodies.

Instead, MAGA and the wingnuts once again tried to distract, obfuscate and confuse their viewers away from that monumental decision to focus on a faux scandal about handcuffs.

No faking here. Putting your hands behind your back is a best practice while detained, handcuffed or not, to avoid escalating charges like resisting arrest.

As a public defender, I can attest, if you’re being arrested one of the safest things to do is put your hands behind your back or where an officer can see them. And then remember, DO NOT TALK TO THE COPS. Invoke your right to silence and ask for a lawyer immediately.

The Democratic lawmakers made their point very effectively.
