Vice President Kamala Harris held a meeting Tuesday with disability leaders on the 32nd anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act at the White House to discuss reproductive rights, but when she described her gender and what she was wearing, Fox News and right-wing liars went ballistic.
Fox News host Sean Hannity opened up the segment thusly.
"Vice President Harris tonight, at the center of mockery yet again after this bizarre moment during a White House meeting earlier today with this disability activists where Harris, along with attendees, went through their pronouns and described what they were wearing. Take a look."
Good afternoon. I want to welcome these leaders for coming in to have this very important discussion about some of the most pressing issues of our time.
I am Kamala Harris. My pronouns are “she” and “her.” I am a woman sitting at the table wearing a blue suit.
Her introduction, by the way, is best practice when speaking to people with disabilities, some of whom may be sight-impaired.
After the clip ended, Hannity launched straight into bashing her. "I don't even know where to begin, so Laura, the first time this was brought to my attention, 'I am a woman, I am wearing a blue suit. Okay."
Does Hannity hate blind people?
VP Harris was being courteous to those who are visually impaired in discussing her attire, but kindness is not something Republicans understand these days. Or really ever.
Hannity told this story: "A friend of mine had a child go to Brown University five years ago and it is Orientation day and then they walked around the courtyard and would ask how do you like to be addressed?"
First, a child doesn't go to university. It's a grown person and if that person wants to be addressed a certain way, they have the right to do so, idgit. Stop with the child grooming game.
Also Hannity said this happened five years ago which means his complaints must got to Trump, since his outrage happened when Trump was in office back then.
And it shows how the youth in new generations make the changes to society as much as anything else. I'd say those children born in the late 90's and afterward have taken apart the gender norms that makes Republicans so uncomfortable.
"And as like what?" Hannity continued. "I never quite heard about that before. I don't care if people feel they need that they want to be described a certain way. I will respect their wishes, but to doing it this way with all the problems this country has seems a little frivolous to me."
Hannity pretends legislators can't address a person with pronouns like she, her, him, them, etc and chew gum at the same time.
Lara Trump, a dim bulb who said "playgrounds are too safe for children these days," made another asinine assessment.
"Just when you think we have hit rock bottom, Kamala Harris comes out and shows you that you can actually go lower," Lara Trump spewed.
Describing the color of a dress to blind people and mentioning pronouns shows a real engagement with the youth of this country and an attention to detail.
How is that going lower? It is If you're a f**king homophobic idiot who is being paid by Rupert Murdoch to act that way then I guess it makes sense.
Fox News has been focused on Harris like no other Vice President has been scrutinized. They feared here as soon as she was nominated by Biden and they spend as much time harassing her as they do the president.
Clipping fifteen seconds out of a whole meeting to smear Democrats and behave like ableist idiots is the norm these days.
Don't be fooled.
