A Republican congresswoman cried on the House floor as she spoke out against the bipartisan Respect for Marriage Act on Thursday. It was embarrassing. She wept as she begged her colleagues to basically unmarry all of the gays.

Andrew Hartzler, the nephew of Missouri Rep. Vicky Hartzler, was interviewed by MSNBC's Ali Velshi. Andrew is from a conservative family who put him through conversion therapy after his parents discovered he was gay. It sounds like his family marginalized him even before society could marginalize him for being who he is.

Thankfully, Hartzler, who's been in Congress for far too long -- since 2011 -- will not be returning in 2023 after losing her campaign for an open Senate seat.

Before appearing on MSNBC, Andrew said of his bigoted aunt on TikTok, "So despite coming out to my aunt this past February, I guess she's still just as much as a homophobe."

Imagine crying because people can get married. And imagine thinking that your marriage is being attacked because a gay couple can get married. That doesn't make any sense, but the GOP has become the party of victimization.
