We've all seen Donald Trump, the man who incited the attack on our Capitol, try to claim that the Jan. 6 defendants are "hostages." Sure thing, buddy. When it all unfolded live on TV, we witnessed the mayhem. We also witnessed the police not using the force they would have if the crowd were filled with unarmed Black men. And yet, they were so close to stopping the peaceful transition of power as they beat the police with flagpoles. Or, as Republicans call it, a sightseeing trip.

Via the Department of Justice:

Arrests made: More than 1,265 defendants have been charged in nearly all 50 states and the District of Columbia. (This includes those charged in both District and Superior Court).

Criminal charges:

Approximately 452 defendants have been charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers or employees, including approximately 123 individuals who have been charged with using a deadly or dangerous weapon or causing serious bodily injury to an officer.
Approximately 140 police officers were assaulted on Jan. 6 at the Capitol, including about 80 from the U.S. Capitol Police and about 60 from the Metropolitan Police Department.

And yet, the police didn't open fire except in the case of Ashli Babbit and don't get me started on that traitor. She fucked around and found out. It was shocking that the police didn't even fire into the air as a warning shot. The insurrectionists were treated with kid gloves.

Still, January 6th defendant Jake Lang feels that the police used excessive force. Tamir Rice and countless others would like a word with this tender punkin'.

Lang announced on America's Voice that 78 January 6th defendants have just filed a class action lawsuit against 21 Capitol Police Officers for millions of dollars.

"But this January 6th class action lawsuit that he's been served with has over 78, January 6th defendants on it, claiming millions of dollars in damages and injuries that the Capitol Police caused us, you know, horrible," he insisted.

"I mean, I got shot in the foot with a rubber bullet, and other people were bludgeoned nearly to death and, you know, hit with the chemical spray and had long-lasting lung effects," he added. "And so we are now serving 21 defendants, Capitol Police officers, Capitol Police officials, like Thomas Tobias."

It seems to me that being shot in the foot with a rubber bullet as a deterrent to stop a crime is a lot better than being shot to death with real bullets. The January 6th defendants who are still being held are the worst of the worst. Like Lang, for example.

Lang was seen on video hitting law enforcement officers with a baseball bat and riot shield. He faces charges of assaulting law enforcement officers, as well as felony charges of civil disorder and obstruction of an official proceeding. The day after the attack, Lang it was “war” at the Capitol, not a protest.

Via NBC News:

“I don’t play the watered-down version of Jan. 6, the ‘there was mistakes made that day.’ No, no, I think that was well within our rights and constitutional duty to overthrow the chains of tyranny,” he said in one podcast.

...

U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols said last year that the argument for Lang’s continued detention was “strong,” noting that Lang was at the forefront of the mob and that his “overt expressions of willingness to use violence in the future, along with the violent nature of Lang’s offenses on January 6th, convinced this Court that Lang could not be released with adequate assurances of community safety.”

Why he’s in jail: A judge cited overwhelming evidence that he repeatedly assaulted officers and a continued willingness to engage in violence.

Sounds like Lang suffers from excessive stupidity. He needs to sit his stupid ass down and take all of the seats.
