Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz unsurprisingly defended Donald Trump’s despicable lies and exaggerations on CNN’s The Source on Tuesday with Kaitlan Collins about the president's experience during the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001.
Trump took to Truth Social following a report correcting his godawful false account of what took place with him after the attacks, and he doubled down with even more sketchy details. Leave it to Cruz to defend the indefensible.
"On the president's 9-11 story today, he's saying that there is evidence that he was there right after," Collins said. "I mean, he's kind of making it sound like he was pulled out of the rumble, though, with the firefighters. Do you think that's appropriate?"
"September 11th was 25 years ago," Cruz said. "It was a horrific moment for our entire country."
"And you could doubt whatever you want about Donald Trump, but the man is a New Yorker," he continued. "He loves New York. And I have every doubt that what he's conveying there is what he experienced. And that was a traumatic experience for all of us."
"Yeah," Collins said. "And you might just hear that and think he's exaggerating his role; should anyone exaggerate what happened on 9-11?"
"Look, I think when you're sharing your feelings, your sentiments, I remember I was in D.C. on 9-11," Cruz said.
No one, especially the president, should embellish their role in what took place on that horrific day. I was a few miles away in Chelsea (the West Side). When my BFF and I went outside to see what was happening (the TV stations weren't working), people were walking around in a clear state of shock. I think everyone knows exactly where they were when we were attacked - even President Scrambled Brains. He has to make himself out to be a hero in every story, even though he dodged the draft because his feet hurt.
My bestie and I tried to get to Ground Zero, like many New Yorkers, to help, but we couldn't get through the emergency perimeter.
There is no public evidence for Trump's new story that firefighters physically picked him up and carried him away because a nearby building was about to collapse. That just didn't happen.
Even Trump's nephew doesn't know what the fuck his uncle is talking about.
