Midterms are rapidly closing in on Donald Trump, with polls predicting a positively brutal loss for the Republican Party that will almost assuredly cost him his majority in both branches of Congress and, ultimately, his presidency, American suffering is increasing daily under exorbitant prices for everything from food to gas to rent, and Iranian leadership has already made it abundantly clear that any sort of deal to open the Strait of Hormuz and relieve some of the pressure is entirely off the table until both Donald J. Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu have been stripped of their power.
Suffice it to say, the man is growing increasingly desperate to staunch the bleeding, no matter what it takes, and it's starting to show.
Speaking with Fox News Sunday morning, the US president broached the topic of imminent US escalation in the Middle East, after reports over the weekend suggested some unsettling movements for both Trump and his Israeli counterpart, telling the Fox host that "very big things" would be happening with regard to his ongoing war in the "not-so-distant future."
He made it crystal clear that, among those "very big things" was the very real possibility of "wiping Iran out" entirely.
Following an onslaught of reports Saturday night confirming that President Trump abruptly cut his Camp David trip short and returned to the White House with no explanation, while Benjamin Netanyahu simultaneously and suddenly cut his own United States visit short, fears among Americans were at a fever pitch. Sunday morning, Trump called into Fox & Friends Weekend to provide an update on his current thought processes with respect to Iran and certainly didn't make anyone feel much better.
"[Trump] tells Fox News he's in a 'deciding mode' and that 'very big things' are going to be happening in the 'not-so-distant future,’" Fox host Trey Yingst told viewers.
"The president described the current choices on the table as 'wiping Iran out, letting them rot economically, or making a deal.’ He added, 'My question is, if and when do I blow the entire nation up, they better behave.'”
Fellow Fox host Charles Hurt pressed Yingst for more information, asking, "Can you give us any idea about what 'not-s-distant future' means? Are with thinking hours, or we thinking days?"
Yingst stated that it was "not clear at this moment," though reports have confirmed that Iranian officials are already preparing for resumed hostilities from the United States.
