WASHINGTON, D.C. - September 16, 2013 (WPVI) -- ABC News has confirmed that a gunman in the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard shooting has died and the Washington, D.C. police cheif said there may bet two more. In all, the Associated Press reports that a total of six people have died.
ABC News reports that the dead gunman is a former Navy official in his 50s.
Police have a name of the shooter, ABC News reports, but are not releasing it. The man's work status "recently changed," ABC News reported.
Police said there were possibly two other suspected shooters, but were still investigating.
Navy officials tell the Associated Press that a total of six people have died.
ABC is also reporting that at least 2 police officers are among the wounded: 1 Metropolitan Police officer, who was taken to an area hospital, and an officer from the naval base. The second officer and the other wounded were being treated on the scene.
UPDATE: D.C. police briefing says they have reports of three gunman, one black and two white. It is "an isolated incident."
UPDATE: Police are now saying possibly two gunmen.

Police believe they have pinned down a shooter who has been firing at people in the Washington Navy Yard Monday morning, wounding at least 10 people.
Police said that they believe the shooter is somewhere between the third and fourth floors of one of the buildings on the installation in Southeast Washington, but they declined to identify it further.
As hundreds of police officers from various agencies converged on the scene, officials at Reagan National Airport ordered all outgoing flights held.
Police on the scene said eight civilians were shot, along with the two police officers. One is a D.C. Metro Police officer who was shot two times in the leg, police said. The other officer worked at the base.
UPDATE I: MSNBC is reporting that up to a dozen people have been shot and four of those were killed and there could be up to three shooters involved, but one is supposed to be cornered. Information is still pouring in and the media has been known to get many facts wrong when news breaks like this.
