Let's play a game. We can call the game 'Song Overdose'. Is there a song that you agree is great that nevertheless you could go without ever hearing again? Although I value its artistic merit and worship both the singer and the songwriter (Otis Redding), my choice is Aretha's 'Respect', not for any other reason than that I've just plain heard it enough. What's your choice?
And in other soul, check out our sister site Newstalgia. Their "Nights at the Roundtable" offering for tonight is Jackie Lee and Dolores Hall from 1966.
