According to iCasualties, the total number of allied service members killed in Afghanistan is now 3,016.

In addition, the following notable names passed this week: inventor Eugene Polley, jazz singer Carrie Smith, Kansas state representative Bob Bethell, Mississippi state representative Ezell Lee, Congressman William Wampler, social critic Paul Fussell, politician T. Garry Buckley, writer Kathi Kamen Goldmark, television executive Lee Rich, and activist Sandy Dahl.
