C&L's Late Nite Music Club With Charles Mingus

Here's a tune from Charles Mingus, whose aggressive performance and leadership style made him a prominent figure within the bop genre.

"Freedom" is the closing track on Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus and is one of the few works by Mingus to contain vocals. Mingus provides the spoken-word line himself, in addition to his usual duties on bass. He also put together two different ensembles for the album, showcasing his abilities as a bandleader as well. If you're a fan of jazz, especially bop, Charles Mingus is a must-listen.
