Donald Trump: Master Of Wingnut Duckspeak

From Wikipedia:

Duckspeak is a Newspeak term meaning literally to quack like a duck or to speak without thinking. Duckspeak can be either good or "ungood" (bad), depending on who is speaking, and whether what they are saying is in following with the ideals of Big Brother. To speak rubbish and lies may be ungood, but to speak rubbish and lies for the good of "The Party" may be good. In the appendix to 1984, Orwell explains:

“Ultimately it was hoped to make articulate speech issue from the larynx without involving the higher brain centres at all. This aim was frankly admitted in the Newspeak word duckspeak […]. Like various words in the B vocabulary, duckspeak was ambivalent in meaning. Provided that the opinions which were quacked out were orthodox ones, it implied nothing but praise, and when the Times referred to one of the orators of the Party as a doubleplusgood duckspeaker it was paying a warm and valued compliment.”
-- Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-Four

The GOP spent 40 years and billions of dollars building themselves an army of reprogrammable golem for whom reality itself is merely an inconvenient Liberal conspiracy to be shouted out of the way every time it kicks them in the balls.

And they succeeded, because if the Republican brain caste is excellent at one thing, it's convincing bigots and imbeciles to commit economic suicide for the greater glory of tax cuts for billionaires.

Brad DeLong famously said back in 2005, "I'll Stop Calling This Crew 'Orwellian' When They Stop Using 1984 as an Operations Manual" and since then, they have done nothing but drag the rest of us ever further inside an Imbecile Media Event Horizon from which honest journalism cannot escape.

There is no chance whatsoever that the authors of our national disaster are going to reverse themselves at this late date and start listening to those of us who have been right all along; their wealth and self-regard still depends completely on mocking and demonizing us, and these are people who made in clear long ago that they would rather party in a well-appointed bunker as the world burns than risk their perks and privileges by lifting a finger to put the fire out.

Still, popcorn remains inexpensive and plentiful, and the view from my cheap lawn chair in the middle of flyover country remains morbidly entertaining:
