It's been a non-stop on the work front for me the past week and a half. Get out of one gig and then off to the other. Staff meeting, things that need to be done before the holiday breaks, year ending obligations and so on.

Tonight though I was able to cut out of the day gig early, the night gig doesn't need much out of me til after Thanksgiving and the free lance gigs all appeased. I stopped at the neighborhood market on my way home and picked up some adult beverages and snacks after Mrs. SmashyD said she'd have a couple hours of watching set up in TV's viewing queue.

My first time ever hearing the song was the Flat Duo Jets playing it live and then when they included it on their 1991 album Go Go Harlem Baby. It took me a couple of years to hear the original version.

Recorded in 1953, a time when the world figured out that TV probably wasn't going to just be another passing fancy, Big Joe's voice booms out (as it usually does) not too thinly veiled innuendo lyrics about what type of set he wants. Elmore James guitar lines sway, slice and accentuate what's going to be done once the search is completed.

What are you listening to tonight?
