Trump is quick to brag about his support of the military and his love for all things that are generals, but he's been eerily silent on the death of four special forces troops in Niger.
The NY Times and other news outlets reported days ago that four Green Berets were ambushed and killed in Africa.
Last Friday Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to comment on this and she said they are "continuing to review and look into this.”
So it's not like Trump hasn't been briefed on what has happened. Yet, he hasn't even publicly offered up condolences to their families.
Earlier today, on Morning Joe, while discussing NBC's blockbuster reports on Trump wanting to increase our nuclear arsenal, Mike Barnicle asked Trump apologist Rep. Dan Donovan about his silence on this matter.
Barnicle said, "President Trump appears to have great respect for the American military. President Trump is also great at tweeting things. I wonder if you have any explanation at all for the fact that since four green berets were killed in Niger, President Trump hasn't tweeted a single thing about the loss of these four special people."
Donovan's opening remark was predictable.
Rep. Donovan said, "I think that's unfair."
He went to detail how much love Trump has in his heart for the military and he only tweets things because he wants unfiltered messages that are not corrupted by the evil media.
"You cannot condemn the president for what happened with those four..."
Barnicle replied, "I'm not condemning him, I'm just curious. He has time to tweet about ESPN hosts and the media in general and not tweeting about the loss of four special forces."
After purposefully mangling Barnicle's question, Donovan then sprouts out some gibberish.
Rep. Donovan replied, "I just think that because he believes his communications directors and his messages for something as serious as that, gets delivered to the public the way he wants to and other messages don't so he delivers those messages himself."
Huh?
Salon writes about this media evasion:
The White House said Trump was notified about the attack in Niger shortly after it happened last Wednesday night. A week later, he still hasn’t sent one tweet or released any official statement about the death of the four Americans. He has written more than 60 tweets about Benghazi, another terror attack in the same region of Africa that resulted in four dead Americans.
I haven't seen a comment in any newspaper made by Trump about those troops who lost their lives. Why is that?
Isn't their sacrifice worthy of at least one tweet?
