On This Date in 1792 "La Marseillaise", later the national anthem of France, was composed by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle in Strasbourg. Above, the "La Marseillaise" scene from Casablanca (which contains the most consequential nod in movie history and gets me every time.)
