Every rose has its thorn, and every awards show has its set piece that might fall on you.

As hilarious is it was to see Bret Michaels get destroyed after Poison's performance of "Nothin' But a Good Time" at the Tonys over and over on Youtube, it looks like initial reports that he wasn't hurt are incorrect:

Sunday night’s Tony Awards gave Bret Michaels and Poison the opportunity to bring an Eighties anthem to an unlikely audience — the Broadway theater world — and celebrate hair-metal musical Rock of Ages in front of millions of people. But as Rock Daily reported yesterday, their performance of “Nothin’ But a Good Time” ended with anything but: a moving set piece smashed Michaels in the face when he tried to scoot below it before Stockard Channing began her part of the opening number. The result of the frontman’s injuries has been revealed this morning: a fractured nose and busted lip requiring three stitches.

Furthermore, team Bret is displeased about the Tony Awards lack of gravitas and concern:

“I feel had this incident happened to Liza Minnelli, Dolly Parton or Elton John the Tonys would have at least issued a letter of concern,” the statement reads. “It is unfortunate that the show’s host made light of the situation without having any knowledge of the severity of Bret’s injuries. Comments that Mr. [Neal Patrick Harris, the show's host] Harris was doing shots backstage with Mr. Michaels and that Bret was completely fine were untrue considering Bret never saw Mr. Harris prior to, during or after the Tonys but in fact was being attended to by medical personnel backstage.”

Sorry Bret. A broken nose and a busted lip sucks, but not as bad as being the only guy not laughing. Cheer up and get your dues in court, pal.
