Helen Reddy - "I am Woman", Midnight Special, 1975

You can bend but never break me
'Cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'Cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

Oh, yes, I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to
I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

Just sayin'...You can marginalize us (look at this lineup and ask how 52 percent of the American population is represented), you can ignore us (not one show mentioned Rush Limbaugh's inexcusable remarks as a topic) but you will never, ever defeat us. The fact is, my dearest male friends, you may be able to bench press more weight that I, but after pregnancy and childbirth; after nursing my husband back to health from a near-fatal car accident; after caring for John Amato as deeply as I do my own blood relations; as I work, keep a house, and volunteer while I raise my daughters to be independent, strong and empowered women, you will never convince me that I am the weaker sex.
