According to iCasualties, the total number of allied service members killed in Afghanistan is now 3,121.

In addition, the following notable names lost their lives this week:
Concentration camp survivor August Kowalczyk, artist Adam Cullen, football player OJ Murdock, actor and screenwriter Jonathan Hardy, novelist Maeve Binchy, novelist and commentator Gore Vidal, Somali comedian and journalist Abdi Jeylani Malaq Marshale, musician Bill Doss, economist Paul McCracken and musician Jason Noble.
