Joe Miller: Murkowski, NRSC Trying To "Pull An Al Franken"

In a phone interview with Fox Business News last night, senate hopeful Joe Miller (and Tea Party favorite) made some curious references which probably won't endear him to the party he may soon represent in Washington. Miller currently has a 1668 vote lead with some further absentee ballots to be counted before the results are made official from this week's Alaska Senate Republican primary. Miller insinuated that the election could be stolen from him by establishment Republicans from Washington who favored current Senator Lisa Murkowski. Whether Miller was playing offense by promoting his outsider status or simply being offensive by disparaging the electoral process is a matter of taste and probably beside point. Miller is saying he's not going to represent the "elites" in Washington. Miller said that while he has no problem with the party platform but that the leadership [of the Republican party] has strayed too far from those ideals.

Still, one wonders what McConnell, Cornyn and the others think when they hear Miller has such a low opinion of them and their methods that they're no better than Democrats.

MILLER: You know, she's gotten a lot of power from her incumbency, not just her dad's appointment but also the funding of her race, But, you know, frankly we're looking right now to make sure that the election that the votes are accounted for fairly without any type of game play that concerns us any time that somebody lawyers up and, you know, tries to pull an Al Franken if you will. We are very concerned that, you know, there may be some attempt here to skew the results. Lawyering up with a team of folks from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, it makes you scratch your head and ask what's really going on here.

Another interesting aspect to the interview was his criticism of Scott Brown, later echoed by Sarah Palin for supporting some Democratic legislation.

Miller had another gaffe today when he tweeted about the possibility of Lisa Murkowski being a whore. The offensive tweet was quickly taken down but not before it was captured. Miller later blamed it on a staffer.
