Why Should God Bless America? That's the question raised in an original song sung by a choir to open the recent GOP Value Voters debate. Air America Radio host Rachel Maddow points out the double standard this sort of nuttiness reveals. If the song God Bless America had been butchered to fit their political agenda and sung in front of Democratic presidential candidates, the heads of the right wing pols and pundits would have simultaneously exploded. Of course, those of us Christians who object to invading a sovereign nation based on greed and lies also ask why God should bless America. I even have the bumperstickers to prove it.
