When it was announced that pseudo-journalist Bill O'Reilly was being awarded a local Emmy award, real journalist Barry Nolan, who calls O'Reilly a "mental case," was appalled and decided to speak out in protest about this crime against journalistic integrity. Soon after, Mr. Nolan was fired. Today he took to the digital pages of ThinkProgress to explain himself.

So, I’m that TV guy who got fired by Comcast over Bill O’Reilly. I protested the fact that O’Reilly was chosen to receive the Governors Award at this year’s Emmy Awards ceremony. That’s the highest honor that they hand out. The important word here is: honor.
