The TPP...
I'm old enough to remember the signing of NAFTA, and Ross Perot's warning of "A great sucking sound." A host of further "Free Trade" Agreements over the years ha led me to to understand that the only thing "free" about "Free Trade" is the negotiators' hopes for the cost of Labor. Over the years they've told us these FTA's will makes us a Competitive Laborforce. They always leave off, "Competitive with Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, and Haiti," who support Slave Shops. I've never seen a FTA that didn't crush the Working Class. I don't understand Democrats willing to throw our Middle Class to the Corporate wolves.
Lambert, at Corrente, kicks it off, by praising an Anti-Human Trafficking Amendment to Fast Track, deemed a "Poison Pill."
Dave Johnson at Seeing The Forest, has reasons for activism against the TPP, and provides avenues for it.
Susie Madrak has this must-read by Cole Stangler shedding some much-needed sunlight on "The Dark Side Of The TPP."
And finally some GOOD NEWS, and FAIR Trade: Our good friend, JurassicPork, has written a fantastically fun book of Historical Fiction. Having purchased and read Tatterdemalion, I'm here to recommend it as a wonderful summer read. In paperback or as an e-book. Go support our own.
