Athletes Take A Knee In Response To Trump's Attacks On Colin Kaepernick
September 24, 2017

Trump delivered an utterly unhinged rant against Colin Kaepernick at his Alabama rally on Friday, calling him a "son of a bitch" and screaming at the rally supporters:

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘get that son of a bitch off the field right now. He is fired. He’s fired!"

And like good cult followers, they cheered at their leader's racist dog whistle, demanding that NFL leaders get their black field staff to fall into line. Trump continued to last out at black sports figures, starting with last week's attack on ESPN's Jemele Hill after she called him a White Supremacist. Then, on Saturday, Trump tweeted this about Steph Curry:

Oh, but reports from this summer show that Curry wasn't even planning to go to the White House, as was reported on Fox and Friends, where Trump gets all his "intelligence" reports. And since we all know Trump can't stand to be dumped, he tried to save face by rescinding the invite.

Backlash to Trump's racist rants came fast and furious, with team leaders, players and celebrities across the spectrum of race and gender supporting Colin Kaepernick and deriding Donald Trump's insanely racist speech. Stevie Wonder even took a knee at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City on Saturday to show his solidarity. The ENTIRE WNBA Indiana Fever took a knee before their game.
