Rep. Ruben Gallego waded into the recent stupidity over gas stoves, trying to make a joke about banning air fryers instead, as tools of urban elitists. The joke backfired however when his wife Sydney tweeted in response that they have an air fryer. "Tells you who does the cooking," she said. Gallego could only tweet meekly in response, "Damn."

The wife of Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) criticized her husband for his comments on gas stoves and air fryers, joking that he made it clear to his Twitter audience "who does the cooking" in their home.
Gas stoves have become a publicized controversy after one commissioner of the Consumer Product Safety Commission said the agency would consider banning gas stoves over possible health risks. Several politicians took to Twitter to either support or blast the decision, with some, like Gallego, making jokes.
"Hot take: Keep the gas stove and get rid of the air fryer," Gallego said in a tweet. "Only urban elitists use air fryers."
In response, the congressman's wife, Sydney Gallego, poked fun at his comment.
"You know we have an air fryer? **Tells you who does the cooking," she wrote, prompting the representative to give a simple reply: "Damn."
Gallego got some ribbing on Twitter for his unforced error.
All's great though for the Gallegos, as they're expecting a daughter in the new year, making the announcement on Twitter.
In a Jan. 11 Twitter post, Gallego retweeted a video originally posted by his wife of Michael's reaction after learning he will have a sister. The soundless video shows six-year-old Michael seated and smiling widely, revealing a large gap where his baby teeth are missing, and, appearing to shout, gets up in excitement.
