Maybe Trump was feeling defensive because Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds just gave Ron DeSantis a warm welcome during his campaign stop there. Or maybe Trump was still losing it over the very damning audio recording in the hands of special prosecutor Jack Smith, probably via former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, in which Trump acknowledges he held onto a classified Pentagon document.
Whatever the reason, the self-styled master of The Art of the Deal may have just blown any chance of one with Republican Reynolds. When someone mentioned her name at his Iowa appearance Thursday, Trump immediately took a swipe at her.
“I hate to say it, without me, you know she was not gonna win. You know that, right?” Trump sneered.
True or not, as Ron Filipkowski sarcastically points out, it’s bad politics to slight the governor of an important primary state.
