Remember all those decades we Liberals spent warning Republicans that the mob of perpetually aggrieved, rage-drunk, bigoted reprogrammable meatbags they were assembling to win elections would eventually run out of their control and possibly destroy the country?
(If you're one of the many Bulwark writers, Lincoln Project contributors or Never Trumper substackers who sneaks over to the few, remaining Liberal blogs to steal our, critiques and vocabulary...here's a post of mine entitled "Little Red State Fundy" from 18 years ago to make my point.)
And remember how we were all dismissed as alarmist crackpots for writing posts like this?
And now here we are. With, what? 40 million? 50 million? 60 million reprogrammable Republican meatbags out there in the world like MAGA Mee-Maw here? Scolding Mike Pence that he fell down on the job because she feels that in the Constitution somewhere Pence was give the power to decide the 2020 election, but he blew it, and so instead of Trump and Pence continuing the great work they were doing, we're stuck with Commie Joe Biden!
Morning Joe caught up with MAGA Mee-Maw in the hallway after Pence gave her careful, comprehensive explanation of why he had no such authority, delivered in the slow, calm voice of one trying to get a wild, snapping animal back in its cage.
The reporter asked if she had been persuaded.
MAGA Mee-Maw remained unmoved.She still felt that Pence could have put Trump back in office, but other than that one "hiccup," Pence was a "good person" who was on a first-name basis with Republican Jebus.
And what the Very Serious People of our elite media still can't quite wrap their minds around is that MAGA Mee-Maw is the Republican Party. She is the Republican Party as we who live out here in the Real World have seen it for decades. She is the doomsday machine that Republican leaders and Conservative media spent a generation building and activating.
But here's the thing about doomsday machines: once you turn 'em on, you can't turn 'em off.
If you want me, I'll be taking a stroll through my +11,000 post archives, noting the many, many, many times that Liberals like me warned Republicans that this is exactly where they were dragging us.
Then, just for larfs, now that we have our power back on, maybe I'll turn on the teevee machine for a minute and start counting the number of spluttering, stammering, recently-former Republicans who have now colonized my "liberal" media as they try to explain how no one could have seen MAGA Mee-Maw coming and despairing over what, exactly, to do about it.
